SpaceX's recent test flight
SpaceX launched its Super Heavy rocket prototype in a successful test flight. The company's Boca Chica development center in south Texas has been a center for SpaceX's Starship program. The test flight came just days after the company's first booster test ended in a launch pad explosion. The damage to the test flight was however minimal.
SpaceX was required by the FAA to review its safety culture, operational decision-making process and overall safety culture. According to the FAA, the safety improvements made by SpaceX in the wake of the accident have improved safety and will be incorporated into the company’s next launch on Tuesday.
Indian rocket launch
India's government plans to launch a rocket in space exploration. The latest rocket, the LVM3-M2, launched with a 5,796 kilogram payload, a record for an Indian rocket. It sent satellites into Low Earth Orbit (1,200 km above earth's surface).
India has the world's largest satellite constellation, and its first mission was the successful launch of the RS-1 satellite on an SLV-3 rocket in 1980. Since then, ISRO has developed many deep space missions and satellite systems. It operates the GAGAN satellite navigation system and has sent two missions to the Moon and one to Mars.
Shatner in Space
William Shatner, the oldest person to reach space, is in final preparations. Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket will carry the actor. The trip is expected to take place in 2020. Even though it will take a long time, Shatner and his companions will be there.
Amazon Prime Video is airing a special on William Shatner’s voyage to space. The special will debut in the U.S. on Dec. 15 and Canada on Dec. 15. It will also be available in other countries shortly thereafter. Shatner enthusiasts everywhere will delight in this behind the scenes look at Shatner’s Space Mission.
