Bean Bag DIY

product testing jobs

If you have never made a bean bag before, there are plenty of ways you can make your own. Learn how to fill them, make up to 10 bean bags or make a bean bag chair. These projects are easy to do and offer great rewards.

Sewing up to 10 bean bags

By sewing a square or two of fabric into a circular shape, you can create a series of bean bags. Measure each rectangle in length and cut the seam allowance according. After cutting the cylinder, fold it in half and press the edges inwards. This will reduce bulk. Then, add about half a cup dried beans to the cylinder.

Cut a 4 1/2 x 4 inch square of fabric. You can cut muslin into smaller pieces or use a circular blade to reduce them. Use a safety pin to prevent tearing the muslin fabric. Continue this process to make all the cylinders.

You should choose a fabric that is strong yet easy to work with. Avoid using synthetic fabric and go for a denim fabric. It is readily available and easy to work with. Recycled denim jeans make great beanbags. They can be used to stack, toss and play hide-and seek.

No-sew bean bag chair

Bean bag chairs are a great way to make a comfortable chair for your home. With small plastic pellets and fabric, you can create your own chair. The bag should be filled to 3/4 with beans or pellets. To close it, attach a zipper.

This project can be enjoyed by both kids and adults. The project is easy to complete in just two weeks and does not require any sewing skill. To make your bean bag cover soft and colorful, you can use a hot glu gun. It is also a wonderful learning experience.

The filling is another important component of a no-sew bean bag chair. Store-bought bean bags often use styrofoam beads or plastic pellets, which can be hazardous to children. You can opt for poly pellets which are non-toxic and cheaper. They can be purchased in bulk bags and biodegradable. The bean bag chair will fit easily with the polystyrene foam filler. You can combine the filler with a water-soluble adhesive to make a waterproof covering.
